Customizing MTU Size
The Custom MTU table lets you configure up to 16 rules of maximum transmission unit (MTU) size. MTU is configured per IP Interface (listed in the IP Interfaces table).
Typically, MTU is defined by the cloud's management platform, which is reflected in the Ethernet Devices table (read-only). However, the Custom MTU table allows you to override this value.
Once you configure the MTU size for an IP Interface, the 'MTU' parameter in the Ethernet Devices table is updated to reflect the new setting for the corresponding IP Interface (see Configuring Underlying Ethernet Devices).
The Custom MTU table is applicable only when the device is deployed on the Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
The following procedure describes how to customize MTU size through the Web interface. You can also configure it through ini file [CustomMtu] or CLI (configure network > custom-mtu).
➢ | To customize MTU size: |
1. | Open the Custom MTU table (Setup menu > IP Network tab > Advanced folder > Custom MTU Configuration). |
2. | Click New; the following dialog box appears: |
3. | Configure the MTU according to the parameters described in the table below. |
4. | Click Apply. |
Custom MTU Table Parameter Descriptions

Description |
---|---|
'Index' |
Defines an index number for the new table row. Note: Each row must be configured with a unique index. |
'Interface Name' network-if [CustomMtu_InterfaceName] |
Assigns an IP Interface (from the IP Interfaces table - see Configuring IP Network Interfaces) for which the MTU size is applied. By default, no value is defined. |
'MTU' mtu [CustomMtu_MTU] |
Defines the MTU size (in bytes). The valid value range is 68 to 65535. The default is 1500. |
